Abigail awoke from her catnap with a headache. Woozily, she reached for a bottle of aspirin and then realized that what she was experiencing wasn’t a headache at all. She relaxed her mind and immediately an image overtook her: Paul, seated in a car. She smiled in pride at the thought that he’d been able to contact her telepathically. The boy had great power, of that she had no doubts.

What he did want? Was something wrong? Abigail got up, fixed herself an iced tea, and sat at her parlor table. When they’d last spoken, he was terribly concerned about finding out who’d killed the Filippos. Was that it? Had he been able to discover the killer’s identity? Or was he having trouble and needing her help?

Abigail set the perspiring glass on the faded linen tablecloth and allowed her mind to become clear. Whatever the problem was, she wanted to help Paul.
